Happy New Year
Happy New Year
“For last year's words belong
to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.”
― T.S. Eliot (Four Quartets)
And next year's words await another voice.”

Tonight, we come
together to celebrate the curtain call of another year. A year that passed by
in the blink of an eye, but left a deep impact on our lives. A year full of new
beginnings, new endings, new experiences to learn from- to accept and
incorporate into our lives.
According to Sir
Alfred Lord Tennyson, there is a beautiful reason to why the new year is to be
a happy one. He says,
“Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’...”
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’...”
I find his words to
be particularly true, simply because I hold great faith that the idea of a new
tomorrow can instill a considerable amount of hope in a person. One is given
the opportunity to start over, on the first blank page of a completely blank
book. Somewhere, the idea of leaving behind all that happened and to move forth
afresh appeals to us, and it is a genuine effort that is put into achieving
this new beginning.
So this time, let us
countdown to the anticipation of a happy, hopeful year. Let us wake up
tomorrow, feeling a new sunrise, a new commencement of a new chapter of life.
Let us make new aspirations, in the words of Sarah Ban Breathnach,
“New Year’s day. A fresh
start… Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in
hand. Only dreams give birth to change.”
Let us enjoy life for once, try to savour
moments despite our busy schedules. Let us rejoice in things that make us
happy, make us feel alive. Because,
Let us learn to let go, to forgive and forget. Let us aim to
achieve, not leaving behind our humanitarian values. Let us make this the best
beginning ever, and decide to only ever make it better. Here’s to a Happy New
Year…
Well written!! Good milestone to start fresh and new. Opportunity to Forget and Forgive the past..
