Speak Your Mind
SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Speak your mind... Even if your voice shakes..."
-Maggie Kuhn
Our race, the human
race, has been bestowed with a gift... A gift of the ability to form an
opinion. It's a beautiful gift, because it allows us to have an insight about a
particular concept or topic. Because we have the power to have an opinion, we
can change perceptions, we can ease our lives by changing perception. And
voicing one's opinion makes him stronger, more confident to face a world that
is changing at rapid pace, becoming more and more tight, more competitive, and
yet more accepting, and rather happening.
I happened to come
across a beautiful song, apt for this particular piece:
"Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You better know that in the end
It's better to say too much
Than to never to say what you need to say again...”
Have no fear for giving over
You better know that in the end
It's better to say too much
Than to never to say what you need to say again...”
-John Mayer ('Say'-
Continuum, 2007)
Once you have let out what's on your mind, you feel lighter. You
get the opportunity to realize yourself better, to stimulate your mind.
Speaking your mind can cement your place in the memory of a world where people
are instantly forgotten. Once your mind begins to develop, nothing can stop
your path. How do you think a few people's words are remembered as great quotations
today?
I believe even the weakest, once given a chance, has enough
strength in him to voice himself. To divulge his thoughts, his feelings. Shannon
L. Alder once said, “When you give yourself permission
to communicate what matters to you in every situation you will have peace
despite rejection or disapproval. Putting a voice to your soul helps you to let
go of the negative energy of fear and regret.” It may be hard to face up to a situation at first... It may
be even harder to stand up against a formidable audience, a majority that
believes in one thing, while you believe in another. But respected are those,
who at least tried.
People say that words need to be chosen carefully... They say
it's better to keep quiet and be called a fool than to open your mouth and
remove all doubt. But I believe differently. I believe if people think of you
as a fool, let them. You can always prove them wrong later. But hold your
ground. Say all you need to, if required.
But, remember:
Speak your mind... And watch the world change...
Can't help but give my thoughts on this - there's also another way to look at it....
